Review: e-Alim Digital Quran

This is ProductMuslim.com’s first review on e-Alim Digital Quran.

The device is really cool (I actually ended up buying two of them). Very handy for taking on public transport as well as courses and lectures. Aside from Quran, Tafseer and Hadith Books, it also contains some useful extras like Riyadh-us-Saaliheen and Hisn-ul-Muslim. Makes a great gift. Look forward to your comments!

Salam, the product itself looks good, I might get it.

I am just concerned with battery life, and the eye strain for reading it for a long time. Also, I like to highlight things and take notes as a I read, can I do that here?

And let me review your review:
- the word “conceptualize” is too long and does not fit with the short monosyllabic words
- Camera Shakes, too low res
- Bad sound quality with background noise, don’t use the camera mic, use a special mic and HD camera for this

Salam,

You video said that Moon Technologies is the manufacturer.

They are just a distributor, right?

Wassalam,

Walaykumussalam:

Yes, you are right Abdullah! Moon-tech is a Canadian distributor for e-Alim. The actual manufacturer is a Hong Kong based company called Enmac:

Apologies for the mistake.

Now that the iPad is out, I wonder if it would just be better to get some commercial Qur’an apps for the iPad instead of spending $250+ on this device? Are there any comparable apps out there?

Also, the geek in me wonders if these devices can be hacked and loaded with Android :p.

I thought about that as well, but when I bought the e-Alim the iPad hadn’t been launched in Canada so…

I guess if there is a solid iPad Quran App out there that has all the features like Books of Hadith, DIfferent Translations, Recitations, Dua Books etc. it would work better in terms of value.

What do you think about the Wudu Machine?

Majid.
